My work is represented by Sandra Lee Gallery, 251 Post St. They are titled “Being and Becoming”, “Deep Thought”,” New Beginning”,’ Labyrinth of time”, “Reaching”, and “Walking Meditation”. There are 6 pieces in the show at Gallery 85. At the same time, they deal with the life experience of men and women of diverse cultures, ages and backgrounds – particularly with respect to relationships and with an emphasis on women’s experience. My bronze sculptures include heads, figures and fragments, and reflect a personal perspective on being human. I create one-of-a-kind sculptures… and in the case of certain small pieces, editions of 4. I believe Art – whether visual, performing, musical or other – is a vital energy needed for re-balancing ourselves and our Lindseth Rivera ( )Īs a Sculptor, I have chosen to focus on the human figure since the mid-1990s. These are combined with colors and textures and create, I believe, a transfer of energy into the light, space and environment we all inhabit. The shapes, symbols, and totemic animals that I paint I’ve observed in nature while exploring caves, hiking and dreaming – which is why remembering my dreams is so important to me.
The nine pieces (all symbolic abstract art/acrylic on canvas) include: “Osiris”, “She’s Still There”, “Iris’ Rainbow”, “Burn on Through”, “Mano a Mano”, “Perfect Curvature of the Earth”, “Kokoro”, “Demeter’s Moon” and “Zoom”. Using various colors, shapes and textures, I’m attempting to create from a place that is still forming – fresh and raw – and coming into being. I’m trying to capture the hidden, the mysterious in our world and bring it into the light. I paint in a gestural way, usually in acrylics or oils. I teach Art at Independence High School, East Side San Jose, and my art studio is in an industrial warehouse in Campbell. I have lived in San Jose and Los Gatos for years and recently moved to Capitola. I grew up in the Sierra Foothills and moved to San Jose to attend SJSU. The nine Bay Area art educators who will have their works on display include Lou Bermingham, Milton Bowens, Kristin Lindesth, Cuong Nguyen, David Ogle, Carrie Ann Plank, Russell Powell, George Rivera and Deborah Trilling. "Growing up I never realized my big sister had this kind of talent. "I'm amazed," said Alex Fucile, Rose's brother who has several of his sister's paintings hanging in his home.
"I'm not a great artist but a good copier. "When I began painting, I used those photos for inspiration." Rose humbly says. "While visiting all of those places I took a lot of photos of what I saw and liked," Rose said. "Seeing that makes me happy."Īs a teacher with summers off, Rose had a passion for travel, vising Europe, Russia, China, India and Tibet as well as many locations in the U.S. "I like to see a person's face come to life after I paint it," Rose says. Her subjects include still life, wildlife, landscape, floral and, her favorite subject, portraits. They range in size and form including plates, steins and framed tiles. Rose estimates she has painted more than 100 pieces.
